With the weather not feeling quite Spring like the last couple of days I decided to go back to writing about the fun time we had in Florida. This day would have to be one of my favorites. I’m sure you’ll understand after you read this post.
So our drive back up from Orlando wasn’t bad. But the anticipation was killing me. We were meeting my best friend, Kevin and his family near Ponte Vedra Beach. I hadn’t seen him in 8 or 9 yrs. For those of you who don’t know the story of my best friend : I first knew him as that weird kid on the bus. Then I knew him as the boy I was gonna have to bet up for being mean to my little brother. I really couldn’t stand him. Then I made friends with a guy who he was best friends with. I think the more I got to know him the less I disliked him. I had no clue that the boy on the bus would become the best friend I could have ever asked for. He was there with me through some of my lowest or lows. When I am having the worst days he always knows what to say to get me to laugh. Don’t get me wrong, I love my husband but nobody knows me better than Kevin.
We decided to meet at Bird Island. A cute little park with a maze, playground set, and pond with fish and turtles. The other great thing is the Ponte Vedra Beach Library is not far away. That was great for a potty break. We met Kevin (my best friend), his wife Crystal (we are good friends from High School) and their 4 kiddos at the library. The kids played on the computers, roamed the library and played with the trains and blocks. It really is a neat library. The park and the library are both worth visiting. Plenty of fun things to do both inside and outside.
After enjoying a few hours there we made our way to the Ponte Vedra Beach nearby. I love the beach. It’s just super relaxing. It was a no-brainer for us to go to the beach. The weather was perfect and we saw no jellies. The kids built sand castles and swam. I think we could have stayed forever. We were all kind of sad to leave knowing that we may never have such a great day together again.
Dinner that night was at Cruisers Grill. I had the most delicious nachos I have ever had. Chips with re-fried beans, cheese, and chicken marinated in teriyaki. We ate some really good food on our trip to Florida but this is one of my favorites. I keep wishing I could got to Florida just to have those nachos again. The kids had a blast sitting together while talking, playing, and coloring. The kids really did get along really well. Good food and friends is the best way to end a day.
I hope this post helps anyone feeling the Sprinter blues.I know I feel a little warmer and aching to go to the beach. I’m hoping Spring shows up so I have more adventures to share. Have a great week!
